Pete Hutton

Chair

Pete joined the board in July 2017. He was most recently president of product groups at ARM, where he had P and L ownership of all product development, marketing and licensing. This covered 3,500 staff in more than 25 global locations, working closely with a range of global partners. During his time in this role, revenue increased by approximately 50 percent (approx. 500m dollars).

Dr Irina Khromova

Head of Science and Technology

Irina leads our product research and development. Her field of scientific expertise is metamaterials, nonlinear optics, RF and THz engineering. Irina holds a position of Assistant Professor at the Public University of Navarra. She has defended a PhD in Physics and a PhD in Electrical Engineering. Irina has worked in academic research at leading universities in the UK, Spain, Russia, Australia, Netherlands and Denmark.

Dr Tristan Collins

Managing Director

Tristan was a strategy consultant for 7 years, completing engagements with a number of FTSE100s as well as public sector bodies (FCO, MOD, NHS) and smaller, high-growth firms. He completed his PhD in turbulent combustion modelling at Madgalene College, Cambridge.

Peter Tudor

Research Engineer

Peter recently completed his DPhil at St Hugh’s College, Oxford, in particle physics (Lasers and accelerator technology), covering Magnet Design, Plasma Physics, Laser Physics & FPGAs.

Rob Shepherd

Embedded Engineer

Rob’s background is in embedded systems and software development, particularly in mission-critical systems.

Prof. Chris Stevens

Scientific Consultant

Chris is a fellow of St Hugh’s College, Oxford and a fellow in Engineering Science. He conducts research in the fields of metamaterial technologies, quantum computing hardware and terahertz electronics. Chris’s work has spawned two previous spin-outs.

Prof. Ekaterina Shamonina

Scientific Consultant

Katya’s research covers metamaterials, electrodynamics, plasmonics, nanophotonics and microwave optics. She is the 1st female professor in the area of Electrical Engineering at Oxford, and her book, co-authored with Prof. Solymar, on Metamaterials has been a bestseller. Katya is a fellow of Wadham College, Oxford and prior to her appointment held positions at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg & Imperial College.

Prof. Laszlo Solymar FRS

Scientific Consultant

Laszlo is an Emeritus Fellow of Hertford College, Oxford, Emeritus Professor at the University of Oxford and Visiting Professor and Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College, London. He worked first in industry and later at the University of Oxford, completing research on antennas, microwaves, superconductors, holographic gratings, photorefractive materials, and metamaterials. He has held visiting professorships at the Universities of Paris, Copenhagen, Osnabrück, Berlin, Madrid and Budapest. He has published 8 books and over 250 papers. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Society since 1995. He received the Faraday Medal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1992.

Will Goodlad

Investment Director

Will is a Principal at Oxford Sciences Innovation. He is also a Director of Oxford Quantum Circuits, a manufacturer of superconducting processor cores for quantum computing, and OxMet, designers of high performance alloys. He was previously a Publishing Director at Penguin in London, and has worked in Melbourne, Chengdu and Beijing.

Adrian Coles

Board Observer

Adrian has twenty years of experience in the mobile telecoms sector with O2 and Telefonica, where he held senior roles in technology strategy, and most recently handset technology and testing. Upon leaving Telefonica Adrian joined Oxford University Innovation, as a Senior Technology Transfer Manager. Adrian is the University observer and board advisor for Metaboards.
